So good to see you into Pentangle. Guess my posts do some good!! I love Pentangle! I listen often. They have some reunion albums from the 80's, including "In The Round" on Cd now......they are fantastic too!! I also have a number of John Renbourn and Bert Jansch LPs from the mid-1960's that are remarkable too.
I'll put up my Pentangle, Fairport Convention & Steeleye Span collections!
They don't sell Pentangle's studio albums in the major record store here, strangely.
I was only able to get a best of CD....thank God for Amazon!!
Where's their Scottish PRIDE?!!
Ya...you can get most of Penatangle's regular 60's & 70's releases there! At amazon!
"After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music".
Here's another, like the powerful lyrics you found for me that you
shared at the US>Dutch post.
Richie Havens'MINSTREL FROM GAULT
I love this and Richie was so good a the opening act at Woodstock,
so I'll include that first number too.
Don't we all wish we could have been there!!!
A minstrel came down from Gault
With scores of tales to tell
Some of them were false
Yet some of them were true
Some of them we knew
Yet some we knew to well
It was told in fire
And it was told in ice
It was told so many times
Many more than twice
A soldier came down from Dien Bien Phu (Vietnam)
With silence in his eyes
He told of many a nights,
when fire was the sky
He told of many a mornings
When the bravest of men would cry.....
Knowing that through Satin's earth bound magic
many more would have to die.
Many more would have to die.....
A man came down from Sinai mountain
With words of truth for us all
How we bowed and knelt down,
How we worshipped well.
When it came to listening,
We listened, but little, if at all.
Tom WaitsKentucky Avenue from his "Blue Valentine" LP.
For those who can't get past his voice, i tell them --
think Louis Armstrong, in a smoky dive, singing about hookers, drug addicts and losers...like he's singing a love song.
How any one can sing about such times, in a gravelly voice...and make some of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard is beyond me. Of course, then there's those raw raunchy blues...that's nice too!
...so hear his enjoyable narrative and his quiet reading of KENTUCKY AVENUE.....
..."I remember finally getting my paper route and getting up at one o'clock in the morning so I could deliver my papers and still have time to break the law..." TW
By the way, every single album that Dylan has released has been in the top 100 best seller charts, the worst charting at 70. The most recent was released with pre-orders placing it at number ONE the day of it's release in US & UK.
Not a bad run for a kid from Duluth, Minnesota...eh, Chris?!!

Sorry to hear about her breast cancer, terrible anytime, but when a young women gets it it can destroy her confidence.
Sounds like she took it head on and that is a mentor for all women.

Yep she made a documentairy too. She also is a strong supporter of Pink ribbon wich is for woman to fight breastcancer. I'll see if I can find her song wich she made about having to fight the cancer.

She's a smart beautiful inspiring lady. And I hope she will be cancer free for a long time.
I admire her strenght and also the passion she brings in her songs.
And she is a great artist. She knows how to perform. Takes the crowd into her experience. Sadly there are little video's of her live performances to find on you tube.
