I have ran into a few-- but not many. I actually, in my opinion, find it harder to navigate that whole realm being a girl. I sometimes thought people have a harder time taking me seriously.
a few where? at the LL? i don't know, maybe a couple like Dot. but not many
Dot does? Like hardcore?

Could it be many women were wooed by Ray singing 'Close to you', ,and wanted to rub their fingers through his giant muttonchops?

Twilla, I didn't make the topic to offend you, sorry if I did. It also wasn't directed at any particular person on this forum. The LL is a different story. I don't think education has anything to do with it. They can still be flakes. Check out any Doors tribute band concert and you'll know what I'm talking about. Yes, there are attractive female fans, but most of them only know a few Doors songs and their admiration doesn't go much further than Jim. I met one that knows her shit, can hold a conversation til the sun comes up AND collects bootlegs! They are few and far between, but they exist.
It's the same I suppose for the guy fans. Some want to be like Jim, a lot are posers and a lot are tards. This forum has sifted through the rejects and gathered the cream of the crop.

I know you did not mean me personnally.
I don't think a great fan necessarily has to be someone who can debat dates and bootlegs. I have one bootleg I got by accident.
I thought bootlegs were illegal. Go ahead and laugh.
I have read all that I can and I have albums, cd's and Jims poetry books. I also have some pictures and a few (highly prized) things Paul has given me. It is expensive to collect like that. I have sunk my earnings into my home (which I am enjoying the fireplace right now), my savings, my retirement and to helping my family and friends.
I have my own thoughts on music and the Doors just as everyone here does, but I did come here to learn more from some of you die hard fans like yourself.
Like I stated before to Mon in another thread. It is important that the die hard fans keep things cataloged. If there is something I need to know I feel like I can come here and find out. But I have a right to be a fan whether I can argue dates with someone or not I am glad you found a girl fan who makes you feel she is really a fan, but some of us just like the music, the lyrics, and the mystique of the Doors, the history of the 60's etc.
To Each his own
and I think you are too big a fan to be happy getting rid of your things you have collected. I agree with SNOS. I think you will be sad later.
That is my two cents and you can take it for what it is worth.

A hardcore fan doesn't need to know specific dates or venues or even collect bootlegs.

The types I'm talking about are the ones that claim they eat, sleep, breath the Doors, wear their Doors t-shirt 7 days a week..but own 2 Best Of cd's, or think Alabama Song and Gloria are Doors originals, or can't name the 3 members besides Jim, or think they were Jim's lover in a past life, or you mention Other Voices and Full Circle and get a blank look in return, or call it Jim Morrison and the Doors, or think Jim was drunk and stoned 24/7, or try and argue that the Doors movie was factual because their friend's, cousin's uncle used to know Jim..man...the list goes on. The Doors fest back in 2002 attracted some winners. Some of these tribute band singers think that are Jim for fucks sake..they actually believe it. And some of their female fans think they are Jim. Others leave that role after the show is over.

I don't care if you listen to the Doors once a year or only own one album. But what gets me are the people that say..yes! I am the biggest Doors fan on the planet! Then when you talk to them for 2 minutes you realize you're dealing with a poser. You say..hey ever hear the Matrix and they say...the movie? (true story).

I know the lead singer of a popular Zeppelin tribute band that tours the country. He told me he met the lead singer of a Doors tribute act (who shall remain nameless) when they were doing a festival together and he actually introduced himself as "Jim." I'm not sure if he was crazy or just being a dick.

A friend of mine went to see a Doors tribute act (don't remember which one) back in the early 80's. He said that a female audience member went to talk to the lead singer after the show, and he told her he wanted to "f--k her in the mouth".

It's pathetic and almost sad when you see some of these guys. You want to slap them a few times and say, dude..you play in a tribute band on the weekends.
