Artists of the day and beyond influenced by Love...

LOVE was another great band from the 60's and of course VERY Doors related.
I think it would be great to have this special topic about the band who was such a big example for The Doors.

Artists of the day and beyond influenced by Love...

Post by jamestkirk »

How were other artists of the day and beyond influenced by LoVE?

We have talked of Robert Plant...but did you know that (reputedly) Syd Barret with Pink Floyd wrote "Interstellar Overdrive" after their manager tried to sing Love's version of "My Little Red Book" to Syd.

Many were influenced by Love for sure. REM, Hendrix....others influenced by Love--Jesus and Mary Chain, Television Personalities, & many 60's inspired UK bands: The Stone Roses, The Bluetones, The Stands, Primal Scream, and Ricky.

Arthur and Love on the other hand were influenced by the Byrd's and British invasion styled music on their first LP--then they move on to totally original material that will never be matched again...in my humble opinion!

I believe it was The Bangles who did a great version of "7 & 7 Is" with new lyrics about deejay Rodney Bingenheimer. IMO, they were one of the best bands of the '80's. I know that isn't saying much, but still...

Yes. Completely! Their new material is inspired. They still have those 60's colors of the day!
