Drugs, Love and music

LOVE was another great band from the 60's and of course VERY Doors related.
I think it would be great to have this special topic about the band who was such a big example for The Doors.

Drugs, Love and music

Post by jamestkirk »

Drugs have always been a part of our 60's music scene...it started with Donovan...he was the first to get busted and got really bad press...love grass was not accepted at ALL.

The Pusher was a big hit and caught the temper very well...The Doors, Love with Signed DC and others....

LSD songs, grass, hash, meth, mushrooms, booze....all a part of the culture. But as the 60's drew to a close the drugs got harder, and the musicians got addicted and things just got darker and darker......

Drugs help cause Love's break up and many other artist's demise....Jimi, Janis, Jim.....

Johnny Echols said it best in his comments from the LOVE STORY documentary.....

"(drugs) it was something to help us cope with the realities of what was going on....you get depressed or whatever, so you self medicate. ANd you keep on self medicating,

and pretty soon you chase the dragon until.....
the dragon catches you.

And that's what we all did. But it wasn't the point of the drugs causing the problems. The drugs came after the problems were already there. And then the drugs were used just to try to cope with them..."

Johnny has a way of putting it into words...a wise man.
"After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music".

-Aldous Huxley
