R.I.P.Gil Scott Heron... a poet..and the master of blues..poetry..and what became known as Hip- Hop.

Mr. Scott-Heron may have been the heart, soul, the proto rapper, and all beginnings of hip hop, African American neo soul movement, but for me...(I cannot get into rap, sorry, but Gil had it all and I love him)....well, you can UNDERSTAND him (figuratively) and he UNDERSTANDS US (truly!)!! ....

HE is about what we all experienced in the 60's & what we see today. Gil released a new album just last year after 16 years absence from recording.....the REVOLUTION is now, more than ever.

RIP.

Many great artists die without getting proper recognition. Many disappear and sadly are "lost" forever.
But sometimes, ironically, some emerge to get unexpected recognition after they die (sometimes even after many years).

We don't know if Gil will be one of such cases, probably not. Yet, listening to "The revolution will not be televised" you may wonder if in a near futur this song will not be a proper hymn for some days that will come. The revolution may or not may be televised but one thing is for sure: it will come.

Gill hated rap & hip hop, and the allusions to him as the originator-- but he is the father of it all, so he will be remembered at least by the artists who will always love him.
