Made me laugh
Listening to the radio the other day I switched stations and this is a conversation I heard...
DJ: Ok so we're about to hear your latest song and apparently there is quite a story behind this song, why don't you tell us about it?
Singer: Oh yeah, it was a real labour of love for me and everyone involved. It almost didn't make it on the record actually. We must have attempted the song 6 or 7 times!
DJ: (unsarcastically) wow!
It just made me laugh thinking of how many takes the Doors did for a number of their songs and apparently now a days 6 or 7 times is a lot. No wonder a lot of music today sux arse!

Right, but with Love's 7 & 7 Is, it really WAS grueling, and a very LONG session to get it right. Snoop couldn't get it. Arthur on drums couldn't get it. But finally, to his credit, Snoop got it down for one of the finest drumming feats in rock. What a grueling drum part--just maintaining that constant barrage!!jim4371 wrote:One thing to note is that even a few seconds of a false start are considered a 'take'. So even on a reel with 40 takes of a song, it's not uncommon to see only 4-5 complete takes.
7 & 7 Is...a blueprint for punk and grunge to come.....10 years on!

Wooses....
How many takes for "7 & 7 Is" by Love?
....something like 30 or 40? Holzman said he had never lost any hearing until those sessions -- trying to get it right!
But Love members even more crazy, as it was more a recording issue as much as Snoop not geting it! They must have been exhasted!
