Casillas is probably the most happy guy in the world.

Look what happened when he was being interviewed after the game, by Sara Carbonero, reporter of Spanish TV and his girlfriend

But let me say, Portugal was the only one that scored 7 goals in just one game!

And the world champions won from us with an off-side goal!

Ooops, where's my fair play? Anyone has seen it?

really?

for me all the final was only Spain, beside he Holland interest to fullfill the game with fouls and breaking one of the spaniards legs, the only struggle was to score the well deserved goal.

sorry Dutchs but for me a bit of luck was the reason to get Holland into the finals.

Spain is the best team of the world and this title is just JUSTICE.

If I would like football, I'd react here. But I don't give a damn about it and I really don't care that Holland got second. But I did see the Final and Spain won well deserved against a very bad playing team.

I was supporting Holland but I have to admit that during the game I change my mind. Not because I felt Spain was going to win but because of the violent game of Holland.

I remembered the 2006 disgraceful game Holland vs Portugal in which Holland started a violent game and Portugal also contributed generously to 120 minutes of shame. I think at this time Spain did not bite the hook. Spain just tried to play football and they did it. Spain was a great champion and deserved. No doubts, they played clean and brilliant games. Great players and great attitude. The only bad thing was they scored very few goals.

I'm not saying this in a easy way. They are my neighbours and some of them are really arrogant people. Generally speaking I don't like them.

I think it's unbelievable that Sneijder is now saying the referee stole Holland  Van Bommel said the same forgetting he should have been sent off early in the game. More, the referee also should had sent off De Jong.

It hurts a lot to loose such a game. Portual lost the Euro 2004 final at home and I felt miserable on that day. I never atttribute this defeat to bad luck. We have to know how to win and how to loose.

In this world cup, after what happened with Portugal, Paraguay and Germany (with a very defensive posture) I was expecting Holland to play a more offensive game. They did not and I can only attribute this to the quality of the spanish game.

My opinion is about the same what Johan Cruijf expressed and I think we cannot doubt that this man is one of the persons that knows more about football in this planet.

I have no doubt that most of the dutch people agree with Johan Cruijf.

Congratulations to Spain!

I guess we're almost finishing this thread.

The french newspaper L´Equipe has proposed the ideal team for this finished 2010 world cup:

Casillas (Spain),
Sergio Ramos (Spain),
Puyol (Spain),
Friedrich (Germany),
Fábio Coentrão (Portugal),
Thomas Müller (Germany),
Khedira (Germany),
Sneijder (Holland),
Xavi (Spain),
Forlán (Uruguay),
David Villa (Spain).

I agree with most of the choices but I decided to make a 2nd team to honour another 11 players I also liked in this competition:

Stekelenburg (Holland),
Maicon (Brazil),
Lucio (Brazil),
Mathijsen (Holland),
Van Bronckhorst (Holland),
Schweinstiger (Germany),
Iniesta (Spain),
Messi (Argentina),
Robben (Holland),
Gyan (Ghana),
Klose (Germany).

It is September and that means it gets really nasty between fans hoping their MLB team is in the Pennant races.

I am afraid my Red Sox are out of it this year....and it is again all about the Rays vs those damn Yankees!

Oh well...go Patriots!!

This is a unique show that happens every 15 days at the stadium of my club.
An American eagle flies from the top of the stadium to the ground, landing to recreate the symbol of my club SL Benfica

Well the rugby union world cup is just around the corner and it is being held here in little old NZ. The All Blacks being the best rugby team in the world and statistically one of, if not the best sports team in the world has a terrible record in world cups. We won the first one in 1987 and haven't since. I actually don't care too much for rugby as I am sure most on this board don't either, but thought I would mention it here anyways.

I had a friend in college (in the U.S.A. BTW) who played and every time he came back from a match (not an official school match but a university club) he looked like he had been beaten bloody and dragged behind a wagon for a mile or two in the mud....

In other words....as he road up on his old Indian motorcycle after a match, he looked like hell, but there was always still a fire in his eyes and a smile in his face!!

Good luck, roughie!

:D

I actually find it funny when we lose. The country goes into mourning and it makes the front page. I am sure when WWII had broken out if the All Blacks had lost the day before then you would be reading about war on page 3 at the earliest!

Good luck to the All Blacks!
It's a favourite rugby national team of many people in the world.
I was in France in last month and they were already excited about this tournement. I suppose New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and England are the favourites.
Good luck Roughie. I imagine a win will make let's say a newspaper with 48 pages to dedicate 46 and a half pages to the big final win...

I think it would be great if one of the pacific nations like Samoa etc would win it, or Argentina.

So we already have France (beated England) and Wales (beated Ireland).

Now, Australia vs South Africa and New Zealand vs Argentina.

The first game seems the most unpredictable.

Roughie, it's still too early to be nervous, huh? Who do you like to meet in the semi-finals? SAf or AUS?
