Discussions of other bands, including D21C/ROTS should go here.

"OPO"-Fantastic important 70's Dutch folk rockers

Post by jamestkirk »

Have you heard them, ed?!

Really fantastic. If you can find the vinyl it is really rare!! Very much in the Fairport Convention & Pentangle mode!

They really got that British folk sound down...then disappeared. No band history to be found anywhere. HELP?!

OPO-"Fallen Asleep Like Papa (1975)
OPO "2" (1977)

"OPO 2" lp was only released in Holland on the legendary Stoof label.

Here is a little info about this band:

Opo were a Dutch folk band with a gentle, mournful, Irish-influenced style who made two albums: “Fallen Asleep Just Like Papa” & “Opo 2”.

Lineup:

* Evert Elderson - vocal, acc. guitar. mandloin, dulcimer, harmonium
* Theo harrewijn - vocals, double bass, Irish harp, flute
* Han Schaeffer - vocals, acc. guitar
* Lenneke de Vries - vocals, flute, tin whistle

Great folk music indeed.

Thanks.

Would Lenneke be the female vocalist? Dutch is Greek to me!

Yes, that's her. She has very smooth, yet powerful voice.
