The Beatles Stereo Box Set Fakes

Post by Encuentro »

I bought a Beates stereo box set on Ebay back in Sept. for about $110. It's about $199 on Amazon. When I received it, I immediately noticed that it was in poor condition despite the fact that it was described as new and factory sealed. The CD cases were a mess. They coming apart in places. Generally speaking, the packaging of the entire set did not appear to be professionally made. At the time, what was far more important to me, was the sound quality of the CDs. I played some of the CDs, and they sounded fine. The only odd thing about the sound was that at the beginning of each CD, there is a clicking sound before the music starts. I listened to a few of the CDs, put the set away and haven't listened to it in a couple of months. A couple of nights ago, I decided to check online to confirm that it was a fake, and sure enough it is. I suspected that it might have been a fake when I first received it but shrugged it off as I was more concerned about the sound quality. Unfortunately, the 45 days to take action against the seller has passed, and the seller is no longer a registered user. Obviously, I have to accept some of the blame as I didn't take action early on.

Has anybody else ever been ripped off in this fashion? Has anybody else ever purchased a box set thinking that it was the real deal only to discover that it was a fake?

Well some time ago , i think it was 2008 , i bought the Doors live in Matrix , and the doors had promised to be from the original masters but they werent , so i got ripped off. So youre not the only one who had similar experiences .

Sorry to hear that you got ripped off though , is the sound quality worth the money ? Because i wante to get it too but i dont know if its worth it since i have all the albums from previous releases .

A box set that i definitely want (and if youre an Elvis fan too check it out ) is this but its extremely expensive . I mean 740 euros for a box set ???and its not even the limited 1st edition , its the second edition and its unumbered.

If the Doors could do such a thing but with outtakes only ( NO we do not need another PERCEPTION box set ) and limited edition , i would definitely consider to give such an ammount

They sound good to me, but I haven't done a compare and contrast with the previous releases, all of which I have. It was pretty much of an impulse purchase. I didn't need them. I wanted them. Most of the reviews I read online stated that the remastered albums are far superior to the original CD releases.

Sorry to hear that Encuentro

Box Sets that start with a $1 base price are usually fakes and, of course, shipped from China

Thanks. Unfortunately, I tried to save a few dollars. As a result, I got ripped off. If I had just spent another $90 on Amazon, I would've gotten the real deal. Unfortunately, I can't afford to buy another one. As they say, buyer beware. If it's too good to be true, it probably is.
