drum mic set

We're lucky to have former Doors road manager Vince Treanor here to answer fan questions and share some of his memories. Ask Vince about anything related to the equipment The Doors used, stage set-ups, specific concerts, the band after Jim's death, and working on the Oliver Stone movie.

drum mic set

Post by Estella »

Hi Vince,
I haven't read everything you've written yet, so I hope I won't ask something you already said.

What kind of mics were used for John in the live shows?

How many did you use, and how were they placed?

Thank you very much

John's drum mic's

Post by vince »

There were severl used. The bass drum was slightly padded to prevent ring. The mike was on a short stand in front of the drum.

There was a mike on the snare drum. This was on a goose neck and came in from the fron side to stay out of the way of John's hands and sticks.

There was a mike set between the two small tons about midway between the upper cymbals. and another on the floor tom

These went into a mixer with which I could control the mevels of allt he inputs and the output went to an Acoustic Brain then into the big amps.
