Did Albert Goldman track down police photos of Jim's body?
Albert Goldman was working on a bio of Jim when he died- and based on how he ripped apart Elvis and Lennon, Im sure his book on jim would have been no better..
Serveral people in the hardcore Doors fan community have asserted that Goldman said he was able to gain access to the Parisian police photos of Jim's body-and presumably intended to include an image in his book on Jim. Has anyone else heard about this?
If such photos exist, they would certainly lay to rest the 'Jim is alive' myth.

I don't know if he got the photos but for me it makes perfect sense that these photos exist.
France is a great country and off course there are some rules to be followed up by the authorities in this cases.

I hope that photo's of his body never will be published. I don't know, the man is dead for a long time now. Isn't it better to leave those photo's there? But I'm sure they existSilver Forest wrote:Sure, they will.StrangeNightOfStone wrote:Albert Goldman was working on a bio of Jim when he died- and based on how he ripped apart Elvis and Lennon, Im sure his book on jim would have been no better..

Didn't Greg Shaw work for Albert Goldman while he was working on the Jim bio? He might know if Goldman had any post-mortem photos he planned to include though I'm not sure how much Goldman really had finished before he died. I wonder, if photos were ever taken, would they still exist or would the police/examiners have purged their files after a few years? I'm not interested in tracking them down but just wondering if the story that they turned up decades later could be true.

I think those photo's still exist. They are problaby somewhere in a basement in Paris. Locked away in a big very big archive.Porsche wrote:Didn't Greg Shaw work for Albert Goldman while he was working on the Jim bio? I don't doubt the exsistence of any such photos. look how long it took for the Miami mugshot to surface.
it'd be interesting to talk with a French officer and find out what the standard procedures were for dealing with a deceased person in Paris during the early 70's. seems odd that a few people would come out, look at the body, make an assumption on how the person died, then leave. especially since Morrison was not a French citizen, you'd think that they'd look a little more closely into the cause of death.

I'm sure they exist, but are tucked away and forgotten about- otherwise someone would turned up by now to try to sell the photos to the Daily Mirror for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Even still, such images would help bury the tiresome 'Jim is alive' myth...

I think there are many historic photos of Jim that have yet to be released- The Phoenix bust photos for one....
The story i heard was Albert Goldman bribed some French official and either saw-or aquired Jim's death photos (copies or originals) - if they were in Albert's possesions when he died, perhaps they were lost in the shuffle...

I don't know if it is the case in France. But i think I heard that photo's/reports like these stay in an archive and after 100 years get released open for public. But I think that if someone has the right profession they can get in when he/she requests to see the photo's or other material that was made with the investigation. But I don't think it is allowed to make copies or photo's. Not without an agreement of the person who is in charge of it. Who ever that may be.StrangeNightOfStone wrote:MistyJm wrote:I think those photo's still exist. They are problaby somewhere in a basement in Paris. The Jim is alive myth is indeed tiresom. Sometimes I think that even if those photo's would surface some people would still believe Jim isn't dead.

just curious- do you have your photos as real photos, on photo paper, or as jpegs, or both?wha happened wrote:Frank took a lot more photos than you think. The Doors Music Company owns the rights to Paul's photos. I have copies and sent them to Paul 2 days ago, I think I counted over 1300 that I sent him.
I used to have a rather large Doors photo album, with dozens of slides, but sadly that fell victim to water damage in a flood...(all the photos were priviously published) The Joe sia pics were my favorites...

Frank unearthed more photos recently. Some of them appeared in the new version of his book. Paul may have taken more, but approx 1300 is what the Doors have in their archive.manuel08 wrote:frank told me in italy'96 that took 4000( or i don't remember right) but in one interview he wrote about 3000
just 1300 in total? i thought ferrara took more

Yes, that Monroe photo is real. Thanks for not posting the image directly on the forum. Not really something I feel like seeing this morning. She was face down when she was found, which is why her face looks dark. Blood settles in the body after death and bruising occurs. This is how police officers can easily tell if a body has been moved after death.

very sad.. you can't tell how beautiful she was there at all.
the autopsy pic does look close to this one, though, so its not too hard to see that its her:
