What did other bands of the 60s think of Love?

LOVE was another great band from the 60's and of course VERY Doors related.
I think it would be great to have this special topic about the band who was such a big example for The Doors.

Was Love/Arthus Lee admired- or loathed by other bands of the 60s? I know the Doors admired Love- How did Love get on with bands like the Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead? I hear Arthur had the reputation of being less than friendly to other musicians..

Robert Plant and Zep were huge fans....Robert's long performance at the Benefit for Arthur Lee just months before Arthur's death was a touching tribute....he showed his LOVE.

Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett sites Love as one of the main reasons Pink Floyd formed at all. And "Interstellar Overdrive", one of the first psychedelic tracks ever recorded, was directly inspired by LOVE's "Little Red Book" when their manager hummed a tune for Syd ...and it was used by Syd as the principal melody for the track.

Later bands are heavily influenced...The Televison Personalities and The Jesus and Mary Chain (LOVE t-shirt worn at concerts), REM for sure has said so, UK act like The Stones Roses, The Bluetones, Shack, Primal Scream, and The Stands.

Here are all that acts that appeared on a tribute album "We're All Normal and We Want Our Freedom: Tribute to Arthur Lee and Love" from 1994....
