I'll start with a sweet one of Arthur....in anticipation of the summer release of Black Beauty!

This one was taken in my hometown, Rotterdam when he played there.I love this pic because I've spend a lot of time on the square in my younger days where the photo was taken.
Arthur once said to a friend of his, and mine, that Rotterdam reminded him of LA in the 60's.Kinda full circle in an odd way..
I bought the original photo without the tag on it from the photographer as it is nice to have.

No picture to post (don't have the capability) but questions regarding the locales of two set of photos.

The first set is a couple in what looks like the desert, or perhaps some dirt pit, with the group standing around on some jagged rocks. Snoopy is in these and Michael and Tjay are not so I would guess early '66.

Second set included Michael and not Snoopy or Tjay. They are the ones where Arthur is wearing (I guess) a bathing suit and is kind of messing with Johnny.

Anyone know where these were taken and when?

To jtk, the first one you listed was what I was referring to;
To Bally, that is exactly what I was referring to.

Anybody able to get a time frame or location on these two and who took them?

Another photo question: the guys were dressed differently but it looked like the same location as the Arthur messing with Johnny picture, but this one had Bryan messing with Johnny. Same question: time frame, location and photographer for this photo. Many thanks.

The rocks photo would likely be for the first album as there is no Tjay or Michael in it.

The swim suit photo is from the Forever Changes period I believe...Bryan is not in it (he's around somewhere) but Snoop & Tjay are likely out of the band by then.

The location on the rocks shoot...good question? The grounds of the Castle?

The Arthur-in-the-swim-suit is likely from the Canyon house after they lived at the Castle.

But we need Johnny or Michael to answer, and they don't check this LOVE post.

This one, bally...

Bryan may be merely cropped out here....ACTUALLY is that Bryan mostly hidden behind Johnny and Arthur?!! I think SO! Such a small pic his face blended into the background at first or I'm going blind!

I recently read that Bob Pepper originally created the cover art of FC to have Arthur's face not smiling and that it was modified against his wishes to show the familiar rendering of Arthur smiling on the cover that everyone knows. Does anyone know if this is true and if so is there a copy of the original (non-smile) artwork in existence?

this one credits Love at the Whiskey 1966? But I can't say if they were on the same bill as the DOORS at this time...still cool to see.

Yer welcome, stone!

A very cool pic of Love at the Whiskey! How often do we get to see photos of our faves at these legendary venues?!!

Of course with Love it is easy to date by band lineups! TJ is there doing his flute thing, so we know it was the Da Capo LP window.

With the DOORS you have to know what Jim would have worn/haircut etc, at the time of the show(s)...of course, with all of you expert DOORS fans, that is not a real issue here!!! Those kinds of details are fun, but way beyond my level or desire of personal involvement or knowledge in DOORS' history....so I'm glad you all do it for me!!

This may be one of my favorite all time shots of Johnny & Michael

This one I enhanced for Michael...he liked it better than the original we all know so well...but he never really liked that original at all.

This from Michael in answer to my question about the pic with Arthur on the double neck guitar and Johnny on tambourine and lead vocal....I asked what song would put them in each others shoes!?

"The only song this could be is "Revelation" where Arthur starts it off on Johnny's guitar and Johnny is doing the vocal, which is the way it is on the record as well." ...M.S-W

Arthur's infectious charm radiates ...what a nice moment to have captured.
