Discussions of other bands, including D21C/ROTS should go here.

Ray & Robby at the Wilbur Theatre, Boston MA Nov. 8 2011

Post by StrangeNightOfStone »

I just saw Ray & Robby perform at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston MA (Nov 8 2011). Here is the setlist- (1)Roadhouse Blues (2) Break On Through (3) The Changeling/Chain of Fools/i got my Mojo Working (4) Peace Frog/Blue Sunday (5) Love me Two Times (6) When the Music's Over (7) Alabama Song (8) Backdoor Man (Rick manzarek jammed on guitar) (9) Spanish Caravan (with an extended solo flamenco intro by Robby) (10) Not To Touch the Earth (11) Riders On The Storm (12) LA Woman **Encore** (1) Indian Summer (2) Light My Fire. LMF was very strange, as at one point the band formed a conga line, and Ray and Rick played cowbell..Overall a tight performance, but being such a long tour, Ray seemed tired- but Robby was on fire. Hands down the best work i've ever seen/heard Robby perform on stage.

My seat was one of the best in the house- at a cocktail table against the stage. Ray was at most 10 feet away. My frined couldn't make it, so i was stuck with an extra ticket. Nobody in my circle of friends were interested in going, and the tix were no refundable- so I sought out the person with the worst seat in the house, some dude way up in the back of the balcony, so I gave them my extra ticket. They nearlly shit with the upgrade. I told the fan just pay it forward.

One thing I should have asked for was for him to email me jpegs of the many photos he snapped- Anyone here attend the Boston gig, take photos, and wopuld be willing to share jpegs of your photos? Thanks

Not as many songs as performed at other shows- cpould be because they really dragged out WTMO and LMF, which ate up a huge ammount of time. WTMO was boring.

The highlight of the performance for me was a live version of 'Indian Summer'.
It was interesting to see Ray's brother Rick jam on guitar during Backdoor Man

Thanks for your review Tarn!

Robby seems to be playing way better than this summer in Europe according to some youtube videos. They have a strong tour program in the US right now. I mean come on, Ray is 72 or something?!

And that was a nice gesture of you with the ticket!

I was at the show too. I had front row of the mezzanine seats. I took a ton of pictures with my cell phone, they're not amazing but they aren't terrible. I'll upload them as soon as I can or I could just email you all of them if you'd like.
