“Crazy from the heat”
June 17, 2003
Well, after I wasted the day by the pool I hit the Monte Carlo brewpub again and then Ringo showed up with Toni and we talked and drank some more and stuff. I was hungry and did the unthinkable; I bought a Big Mac. took 1 bite and tossed it in the garbage. Hate wasting money but what can you do?
Later on, Ringo’s dad took us all out for Sushi, which was really great. I convinced all the guys at the table to do raw Quail egg shots in their beers! So it was a delicious and fun evening. I was so tired I don’t even remember going to bed.
Well, it’s Tuesday and I fly home today. But first I’m meeting an old friend, a guy who has known the Singer for 30 years, Dennis Kelley. Dennis used to drive all the way to LA (with his daughter) back in ’93 to see us play with Spirit. His daughter, Laura, was in high school at the time. She is now living and working in Solano Beach and has a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology! Oh yeah, and she started playing bass 6 months ago (she always used to ask me to teach her but all she listens to is heavy metal!) and now plans to start a band.
And it’s 9:22 am here in Los Vegas on a quiet Tuesday. As I type these people are already heading for the pool and some are queuing up to get into New York New York to gamble. To always believe you are one spin, one turn, one pull from being rich is a common belief here. people EXPECT to win and can’t believe it when they lose. I guess I expect to win as well. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. And I suppose B.T. Barnum was correct when he said there was a sucker born every minute. Speaking of which, it’s now 9:22 am.
