After our plane landed at JFK (7 pm), we were driven to our hotel in Manhattan, on the lower east side. Then the Singer took us to Chinese food which was at the FUNKY BROOME on Mott and Broome street. After that, we walked back to the hotel, and then Gene called to say he was at Joey’s (a bar) on 11th and avenue B having drinks with his wife, Pillar, and Glen Maxx, the Royal Festival Hall (and Q.E.H.), who was visiting New York for Xmas.

We stayed there from about 10:30 till around 2 am. Also met one of my favorite guitarists there, a guy named IVAN JULIAN. He used to play with Matthew Sweet but is a well-known guitarist on the east coast in general. he was way cool and planned to come to both shows.

After we taxied back to the hotel, Chapple and I went out for pizza but instead found a bar and stayed there till 4am. The bartender was really cool, poured us free beers and free tequila shots and stuff. So we told him he could come to the show for free.

Woke up this morning totally hungover and then Chapple and I went to Cafe Habana, off Prince and Bowery, for breakfast. Bumped into Rusty and Daddyo there as well. Food was good. Tomorrow i plan to go to Dean and Deluka for a Reuben Sandwich. Ok, gotta go. Soundcheck is in 90 min. and, with traffic, it may take an hour to taxi to Brooklyn, where we’re playing tonight. Reuben Sandwich:

Ingredients:

• 2 slices rye bread
• 1 tablespoon butter, softened
• 2 ounces of thinly sliced corned beef
• 2 ounces sauerkraut
• 1 slice of mozzarella cheese

Directions:

1. Heat a medium skillet over medium heat.
2. Butter bread on one side.
3. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in a skillet.
4. Layer corned beef, sauerkraut, and mozzarella on bread.
5. Top with remaining slice of bread.
6. Cook, turning once until the bread is browned, the sandwich is heated through, and the cheese is melted.
7. Serve immediately.
